The Scientific name for Albertosaurus is “Alberta Lizard”. Can you guess why it’s named “Albertosaurus”? Well, this awesome Dino was found in Alberta, Canada. This dino is classified as a “Tyrannosaurid Theropod Dinosaur”. This type of dino lived in the Western part of North America. It is said to be classified as this because, it has 2 tiny hand-fingered arms, just like Rexxy (Tyrannosaurus Rex). It had a HUGE head and dozens of sharp teeth just like Rexxy, and was said to be at the Top of it’s Food Chain! I wouldn’t get into a fight with this guy! They, even shared more Characteristic’s than just the Tiny Arms and Head. No, they shared thing’s like: Similar Body Aspects They even balanced the Big Head, Chest Area, and Tail the same way But, Tyrannosaurid limbs were very very small even for their Body size (explaining the small arms). Their hind legs were long, and at the end they had Four Toes. The Albertosaurus was estimated to reach “8-13 miles per hour” when running! Peace in the East!

December 20, 2010Have you met Wally yet? Wally is new to Webosaurs Island and he’s been hanging out all weekend running errands for his partner Chief. He’s a little goofy and I’m never quite sure what he’s up to, he could be anywhere on the Island inspecting things, asking questions, and just having a generally awesome time. Come to the Secret Temple in Dino Dunes TODAY at 12 WST and meet Chief and Wally or catch them wandering the Island all next week collecting evidence for Pterry. What are they up to?!?!

Weboween Weekend Reminder
October 30, 2010A very friendly reminder that Weboween IS. ALMOST. HERE. Even Frankendino is excited and that’s saying something! There are three MAJOR events going down this weekend. Tomorrow is the triumphant return of Comedy Night – Weboween Edition – and there have already been some awesome jokes submitted on the Forum. Like this one submitted by Devonmed:
Where do baby ghosts go during the day? -DaySCARE Centers!
Mwahahaha hilarious, better get your jokes ready! Then on Saturday things are only going to get crazier when we celebrate the birthdays of Stretch and Rexxy. There’s been a lot of talk about this birthday party so you know it’s going to be an amazing celebration. We’re going to be hanging out in the Soggy Bottom Swamp at noon WST and Walnut just came out of the kitchen with this amazing creation!
That’s right, everyone who comes to Stretch and Rexxy’s party will receive this towering, meat-stuffed (I wonder how Stretch feels about that) cake for their cave!
SUNDAY is going to be the best day of all. We’re going to be hanging out in the Carnivorous Cavern with Chrisdog and some other super-secret surprise guests, can you guess who? Also, there is another special surprise for Webosaurs Members who attend, so don’t miss it. If you’re not a member and want to learn more about member features, click here.

Daily Dino Fact: Big, flippered awesomesaurs
July 13, 2010July 8th, 2010
Q: What was the biggest of all the swimmers ? -Optimas
A: This question was actually answered back in October, but thought it would be a great refresher. The first point I’d like to make is that the main “swimmers” of the Mesozoic were called plesiosaurs (they were not dinosaurs). They were big, flippered sea reptiles like Liopleurodon. Although, to be sure, the Mesozoic had a rich abundance of sea life! These guys were just the biggest ones.
The Mesozoic was populated with a whole host of incredible sea reptiles that terrorized everything else in the sea. We’ve talked about Liopleurodon before, who was the largest of them all but the longest is actually Mauisaurus.
Like Liopleurodon, Mauisaurus was a plesiosaur. Mauisaurus measured out to be a whopping 65ft (20m) in length and was the longest sea reptile of them all. Found only in New Zealand fossil beds, Mauisaurus must have been a fearsome predator during its day. They’ve even found a fossil of one fighting a mosasaur!
